Delaware has the highest concentration of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning jobs. Washington DC offers the highest average wages for such workers.

Skilled laborers in the field of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning consider getting training from any HVAC tech school in order to qualify for specialty certifications and possibly get better employment opportunities. However, it seems that it is not enough to get the necessary training and certification as opportunities differ between states.

If anyone interested in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning employment is open to moving from one state to another, there are a few states that should be considered. Some of them have the highest concentration of such jobs and others typically pay such workers higher wages than other states.

States With the Highest Concentration of Employment for Graduates of Any HVAC Tech School

When looking for states with the highest demand for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning workers, the top five to consider are:

Delaware
Florida
Vermont
Maine
Virginia

In Delaware, graduates of any HVAC tech school and specialists within the field account for 0.33% of total state employment. On the average, such workers there earn US$42,210 per year. Next to it is Florida which, in 2008, held 24,660 heating, ventilation, and air conditioning jobs (taking up 0.32% of total state employment) with an average annual wage of US$37,800.

Also among the states with the highest concentration of jobs for graduates of any HVAC tech school are Vermont at 0.31% of all jobs in the state, Maine at 0.29% and Virginia at 0.26%. Vermont offers an annual mean wage of US$39,160 for such workers while Main and Virginia offers between US$41,200 and US$41,240.

States That Pay the Highest Wages for Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning Workers

When it comes to the states that offer the highest wages for such workers, the top five to consider are:

District of Columbia
Alaska
Massachusetts
Minnesota
Illinois

The District of Columbia, although not technically a state, offers the highest wages for graduates of any HVAC tech school as well as technicians and specialists within the field. The hourly mean wage of such workers in Washington DC is US$25.92 but such jobs only account for 0.06% of total state employment.

In Alaska and Massachusetts, the hourly mean wage for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning workers is between US$25.33 and US$25.23 while Minnesota and Illinois offer an average of US$24.55 to US$24.16. Massachusetts seems to be the ideal place for such workers as it does not only offer high average wages but also high demand for such workers at 0.24% of total state employment.

These estimates are based on May 2008 averages published by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics. It is not guaranteed that heating, ventilation, and air conditioning workers will be offered average hourly wages, especially without experience. Any HVAC tech school will provide individuals with the necessary training and knowledge to work in the field. However, only experience, skill and dedication can dictate wages to be earned.
