When looking to enter industries with the highest demand for HVAC tech school graduates, the top five to consider are:

- Direct Selling Establishments
- Hardware, and Plumbing and Heating Equipment and Supplies Merchant Wholesalers
- Commercial and Industrial Machinery and Equipment (except Automotive and Electronic) Repair and Maintenance
- Local Government
The Building Equipment Contractors industry provides approximately 177,820 jobs for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning workers. Such jobs account for 8.70% of total employment within the industry and offer an annual mean wage of US$40,850. For Direct Selling Establishments, such workers annually earn an average of US$43,360 and account for about 11,690 jobs, or about 8.25% of total employment within the industry.
Also with high levels of employment for HVAC tech school graduates are the industries of Hardware, and Plumbing and Heating Equipment and Supplies Merchant Wholesalers which offers 9,540 jobs, Commercial and Industrial Machinery and Equipment (except Automotive and Electronic) Repair and Maintenance which offers about 8,180 jobs, and Local Government which offers about 5,310 jobs.

The Motor Vehicle Manufacturing industry offers an annual mean wage of US$73,380 to heating, ventilation, and air conditioning workers. Also offering above-average wages to HVAC tech school graduates is the Navigational, Measuring, Electromedical, and Control Instruments Manufacturing industry, within which the annual mean wage for such workers is US$60,040.
Within the Electric Power Generation, Transmission and Distribution industry, the annual mean wage for heating, ventilation and air conditioning workers is US$58,620. However, such workers only account for 0.06% of jobs within the industry. Semiconductor and other Electronic Component Manufacturing offers average wages of US$56,450 to HVAC tech school graduates who account for about 0.01% of total industry employment while Wired Telecommunications Carriers offers average wages of US$56,420 to such workers who cover about 0.07% of total industry employment.
